About WassiGiselle "The Wassi One" Blanche
Host. Promoter. Bandleader. Radio Personality. Performing Artist. Mother. Cultural Ambassador. These are some of the words to refer to Giselle The Wassi One Blanche. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, but the twin island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago was born into her. A resident of Miami, Florida, she visits Trinidad and the Caribbean region for the Carnival season annually and is usually a guest co-host on several stations during this time as a freelance radio personality and host. Each Carnival season in Trinidad, she is an annual promoter of Fire Fete, the Army fete and the Anchorage Cooler fete, among other events. She also promotes Rise and Shine, a signature event in Miami Carnival. Born and bred in Brooklyn, New York, but having Trinidadian parents, she has made a name for herself embracing the culture of Trinidad and Tobago. The god-daughter of two legends in the calypso art form, Baron and Superblue, Giselle Blanche or Wassi as she is affectionately known, has blossomed into a multi-faceted entertainer and media personality. 2016 marks 29 years that Giselle has been leading her own mas band in Miami Carnival, The Wassi Ones, which she started at the age of 14 and historically became the youngest bandleader ever. As a mas bandleader, she has participated in Carnivals across the Caribbean region and in the diaspora. She is a frequent program host on stations such as 91.9 F.M. in Trinidad & Tobago, Tempo TV, Mixx 96.1, Star FM Cayman Islands, BOSS FM Grenada, numerous entertainment and club venues, and TeamSoca.com, weekdays at noon to 3pm. She also volunteers her talents to the cause of breast cancer awareness in the Caribbean and throughout the diaspora. Known for her signature tagline, "Miss it?
